ABOUT THIS TOUR
Come taste the heart of the University district
Step off the beaten path and into two of Tucson’s most legendary neighborhoods on our Historic 4th Avenue & Main Gate Square Food Tour. Over four delicious hours, your local guide leads you through the vibrant energy of the University of Arizona’s Main Gate Square and the eclectic, storied streets of 4th Avenue — stopping at 6–7 locally owned, mom-and-pop restaurants along the way.
Many of the restaurants featured on this tour are local success stories — including small family-run concepts that started as humble food trucks before growing into beloved brick-and-mortar Tucson restaurants. This tour gives you the chance to support the local businesses that help make Tucson a UNESCO City of Gastronomy while tasting the creativity and passion behind each stop.
This isn’t just a meal — it’s a neighborhood deep-dive. You’ll visit unique local eateries, hear the rich history behind the district’s most iconic buildings, and taste your way through one of America’s most celebrated food cities.
🏅 Tucson is the first U.S. city recognized as a UNESCO World City of Gastronomy — — every bite on this tour tells that story.

"Great tour, even for locals!
I've lived in Tucson over 25 years and Tucson Food Tours showed me a new part of the community that I don't often explore! Our tour guide, Chris, was really knowledgeable about the history of the community and it was fun to hear stories about 4th Ave and Main Gate Square.
The restaurants that are part of the tour were all AMAZING (and I can't wait to go back to them)! I had only been to one of them before so it was nice to discover new places. The others in our group were all from out of town so it was fun to see them enjoying Tucson.
